The holidays are just around the corner, and there is so much to do to prepare for guests and time spent with loved ones. Joy is in abundance this time of year, and so are tasty treats! Whether you’re at home or at a holiday party, there’s a good chance that you will be able to sample more than a few delicious morsels. That being said, the health of your teeth is probably the last thing on your mind, but it’s important that you do your best to treat them with care this time of year. In part one of this two-part series, we gave you a few tips for maintaining your oral hygiene during the holidays. As we continue with part two of our series, we will give you even more healthy teeth tips for you to consider.

Eat Tooth-Healthy Foods
As we mentioned above, there is no shortage of delicious, sugary treats during the holidays, and while it’s okay to sample some of your favorites, you should also try to balance the sugar with healthier snacks. Crunchy fruits and vegetables like apples, celery, and carrots are great for your teeth and your overall health. In addition to eating healthier foods, it’s also important that you drink plenty of water on a daily basis. Water helps keep you hydrated, freshens your breath, and fills you up, so you don’t have to worry about filling up on sugary snacks that may eventually lead to weight gain and costly cavities.
Sip on Lightly Colored Beverages
Adult beverages like red wine or heavy stouts are staples around the holidays. However, these dark-colored drinks can stain your teeth, leaving them dark and red, not to mention, wines, beers, and even your holiday eggnog contain acids that erode the enamel on your teeth. Instead of sipping on a dark, red wine, try switching to a white wine or champagne! These lighter colored drinks won’t stain your teeth, and in moderation, they are a great addition to any holiday gathering.
Have a Teeth Cleaning Kit on Hand
If you’re planning to attend a variety of festivities this holiday season that will take you away from home, make a travel teeth-cleaning kit that you can easily slip inside a jacket pocket or purse! Finding travel-sized products is extremely easy — all you need is floss, a toothbrush, toothpaste, and a tiny mouthwash. If you’re pressed for space, you can even find travel toothbrushes that have a tiny bead of toothpaste already applied!
